Choose a poem from the poetryoutloud.org website.
The poem must be at least 16 lines or 14 lines, if written before 1900. Do not do "The Star" or "Trees" or "Sonnets from the Portuguese." Unless you already spoke to me, leave along Sonnet 18.
Unlike in past years, there is no essay. However, you must complete at TPCASST, which you will bring the day you recite. You must also bring a print out of the poem for the accuracy judge.
You must have the poem completely memorized for Tuesday (the day before you recite). You will have that day to recite.
Please view videos of successful recitations.
During class, all of you will judge the reciters and then pick your top three in order. From your picks we will pick an overall winner and runner up. (10 points extra credit.) Those people will represent the class in January. In order to compete at the school level, the winners must memorize a second poem, which will count for your second semester memorization project.
