You will write an original op-ed and do a precis on three op-eds that you read on your own in a professional news site.
On the op=ed you will analyze. You must read three op-eds. Two must be different (though not necessarily opposing) views on the same topic. The third can be on anything, but different from the first two. Yes, you can use this to do research on your own op=ed, but be careful of getting other people's ideas and words in your head before you write. Plagiarism will results in an F and school discipline. Do a precis for all three. For the two on the same topic write a paragraph of at least eight sentences....12-ish might be better in which you compare the arguments. You must weave in at least two quotes (at least one from each).
For your original op-ed, choose a topic that interests you, that you can research to find out more about, that you already know something about and that you can make an argument that classmates will care about.
