This week is the final deadline for the yearbook. All pages must go away and we will not see them again until the book comes out. There can be no extensions.
This email was sent to all staffers and families:
Hello All Yearbook Staffers and Families,
This week is the final deadline for yearbook. That means all pages have to be 100 percent finished and submitted and we will not see those pages again until the book comes out. This is going to be a hard-working, stressful week but it is all going to be worth it when we open an awesome book in May! I will be staying after school every day, usually until very late. (Tomorrow afternoon, too, for anyone who wants to stop by.) I will be closing the last pages next weekend (minus index and handful of late pages that close next Monday night.). All staff members are required to participate and help make the book. All staff members must complete their own spreads in time for the pages to be proofed and corrections made. It is helpful for staffers to come to work nights, as homework, family and other obligations permit. They can also work from any computer with an internet connection. Proofing pages today I noticed lots of little mistakes that the writer could have avoided and anybody could find and flag with a note. We need all students to work together on the whole book, as much as they can. Students final grades will depend on accuracy, including feedback we get on the book in May. It is in their interest to get someone to look over their pages. On my teacher web site, I have made a list of things to look for in editing and completing pages. I will continue to update the site over the weekend and through next week. Staffers are required to read all content on rioape.weebly.com and keep checking back.
After the last pages close next Monday, students will have a lot of time to work on other subjects. And, I hope in May we get to hold one of the best yearbooks the school has had.
Thank you all.
Mr Mahoney
