To prepare for the AP Lit Exam Q 3 you will review four novels that you may use to answer the prompt. This project must be handwritten. You may find quotes and other information from any sources, including on-line study notes, but words that are not direct quotes from books must be your own. (I can still check for plagiarism without submissions to turnitin)
One book must be a tragedy (Julius Caesar,, Oedipus, Things Fall Apart, etc). One book must be a play (so, yes, JC, could fill both categories), one book must be a comedy or humorous satire (Importance of Being Ernest). One book must be a novel and one must be a play. One book must be written before 1900 (again the same book can fill many categories). You may do the novel you worked on as a group a novel you read outside class, or a book you studied last year. The idea is to have different books prepared so that you can respond to any prompt. No matter how you do this, you need four books.
For each:
A page = 200 words, hand written. This must be legible. Often bullet points will be OK. I am looking for completeness and engagement.
Due the before the AP Lit Exam.

- Write a two page summary of the plot (400 words approx.; for our purpose a page is 200 words)
- Write a paragraph on the setting
- One paragraph each on how three themes are developed.
- For the protagonist (one or two): Write out the name(s) and three sentences of description and discussion of how the character changes.
- For each main character: Name and sentences or two of description.
- For each minor character: Write their name and a phrase (up to a point: if there are more than a few minor characters, just pick a few that you think are most important)
- Write out three quotations from the book. Briefly explain the significance of each.
- Find three past AP prompts (see my web site or google AP question 3 prompts) that would work for this book. Write out the year of the prompt and a great thesis statement that you would use if you were going to write the essay. (You need at least 10 different prompts for the whole project.)
Due the before the AP Lit Exam.
