Update:
Monday we took the Macbeth Quote Quiz and began discussion of Macbeth essay prompts
For Tuesday we will not write the essay, instead we will continue our discussion. Also for Tuesday read the Modern Perspective on Macbeth at the back of our book. Prepare the essay prompts:
For each, write a thesis statement and an four pieces of very specific supporting detail.
Wednesday we will write Macbeth essay in class and start looking at models. If you will not be here Wednesday see me to take the essay before.
For Thursday: Read on line on in your green lit book Robert Frost's "Out Out." Make notes on how tones contribute to meaning. Follow instructions in post above for reading AP essays (make sure you go to the group for the essay you wrote). Do that for homework and be prepared to discuss essays in class. We will score other essays in class.
FOR THE LEVEE. DUE THIS WEEK.
I want all of you to share a printable work of literature or art for consideration for publication in the Levee, Rio's literary and art magazine. Submit something by Friday night to both turnitin (just so I can keep track of submissions) and share it with [email protected].
What you submit can be your best poem you wrote in the first semester. It could also be several poems. You could submit a poem or poems written outside of class as well. You may also submit high-quality, high-resolution fine-art photograph. You may submit a short story (or section of a longer story) that is no more than 2000 words. Under 1000 words is preferred. You may submit a high-quality, high-resolution photograph or scan of a work of art that you created. If the art work is on campus, we can photograph it for you. You may submit a short personal essay with broad appeal. You may submit in more than one category (2 poems and a painting, for example, or a poem and a short story). However, you must submit something.
WRITING FOR PUBLICATION
You must complete your first writing for publication by next Thursday, Mach 22. If you held over from first semester your second one is due March 29. To make is easy to keep track of the submissions, you will submit your writing to turnitin to the appropriate spot. Please begin with a note about where and when you submitted then include the actual piece of writing. If you wrote for yearbook, you can just describe what you did in a document and post that. Final submission is due to me April 30. I have easy Rio publication assignments you can do, but deadlines are approaching. I am also available to help you with any piece of writing.
